A number (14 to be exact) of years ago we spent Christmas and New Year’s in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Most of the time, we hung out at a resort and snorkeled in the Red Sea. One night though, my daughter and I took a little tour bus trip to climb Mt Sinai for sunrise. We climbed up the mountain along with bunches of other tourists, in the dark, freezing the entire way. I also hiccuped the entire hike, but that is a different story.
Near the top, our guides took us into a shack for tea and to warm up. At some point, I realized the guides weren’t going to get us to the top in time to do any real photography. I had already been burned once on the vacation regarding missing a great photo, so my daughter and I left the group tea behind. We climbed the last little bit to the top. I found a good place, set up the tripod and ended up with some nice photos. This is one of my favorites.
