A number of years ago, while living in the UK, my sister-in-law came for a visit. She was studying to be a sommelier. For a side trip, we drove over to France and spent a week or so in Burgundy – wine country. We stayed in a “gîte.” By day, we’d explore the nearby vineyards, wineries, small towns, and markets. In the evening, we’d relax in our gîte, a little apartment by barn, feasting on the market goodies and drinking the wine acquired during that day’s wandering. Here is a photo of icons on a grave in the cemetery at the Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in Chamilly.

P.S. She passed the sommelier exam.
