This past week I “rescued” thousands of my photos that had been processed and grouped into slideshows over the years on a photo site that shall not be named. About a year and a half ago, the site changed its terms of service and wanted a monthly fee to use the site for anything more than a handful of photos, a fee to host photos for websites and blogs, etc. etc. They emailed me warnings every few days that I was “over the limit” or similar, yet not letting me download my photos to get under that limit.
Anyway, earlier this week I got another such notice. This notice included a big blurb about the new layout and how you can do all kinds of neat stuff, one of which was a new way to up/download entire folders of stuff. I immediately logged in and grabbed all the slideshows before they realized that the download feature was open to everyone. Bye photo site that shall not be named.
When I first started the “Featured Photo” about 6 months ago (at the year mark in my battle to re-acquire my photos) I also started working on regenerating the slide shows, finding the original photos, looking into slideshow and gallery plugins for this website…but like most everything else, I’ve been a little slow about it. I now have all the photos (minus some of the captions, oh well) so maybe that will provide the jump start I need.
Most of the slideshows are from our foreign travels, but today being Veteran’s Day, here is a photo from a trip I made to Boston with my son over a Memorial Day weekend years ago. On that trip, I saw graves and memorials to many of our first “veterans”.
